So you love to get organized, making everything minimal and meticulously organized? I got a great tip for you! (Shared by Image-Line forum member clint.)
This tip allows you to create an extra icon in addition to the three default icons provided. Below is an image of what we’ll create in this tutorial:
Add Any Special Folders In
So step one is to add in any folders which you want to access through this icon shortcut. (Do this by click + dragging the folder into FL Studio’s browser, or go to Options -> File settings -> Browser extra search folders – click the folder icon to locate your folder!)
The folder you selected should then appear in the Browser.
Select New Snap!
Step two is to select a new snap!
Now you have to decide what folders you want to be included in this snap.
Depending on how organized you want to get, you can select multiple folders, or just one single folder to be shown in your snap when clicking your shortcut icon.
Make sure no other folders are open, except the ones you want in your new snap. You’ll then select Show only opened folders (image below):
Head up to the top left arrow of the FL Browser and select Show only opened folders from this drop down menu.
If you select another snap then come back to the snap you chose, you should see your folders! We will then label, colorize, and add an icon to seal the deal!
Edit the Snap – Label, Colorize, Iconize!
Step three is to actually edit the snap. Now, the important thing here is to give your snap an icon, otherwise the icon shortcut will not appear!
Edit the snap by pushing in your middle scroll wheel on the Snap letters. (The same letters you’d left click on to make the drop-down menu appear.)
If you do not have a middle scroll wheel, you can select Rename/Color near the bottom of the snap drop down menu.
Once the snap edit menu is open, type in the name you’d like. Next, give it a color on the right side of the edit menu.
Finally, and the most important step it actually make it work, add an icon to the snap!
Do this by clicking the left arrow on the edit menu. A big list of icons will appear for you to choose from!
Choose any icon you’d like here! Once added, you should see the icon appear adding to three defaults (All, Current Project, and Plugin Database.)
And that’s it! Super organized to help improve the workflow!
